EXCITING FUND-RAISING EVENT ANNOUNCED FOR 6-YEAR OLD JULIA MORREALE

Six-year old Julia Morreale, already a recipient of a heart transplant at the age of 8 months, is in further need of medical attention since being diagnosed with a third recurrence of Post-transplant lymphoproliferative disorder (PTLD), a rare form of cancer which only affects transplant patients. Friends, family and supporters have rallied together to organize a special evening entitled “Kylemore Kares presents An Evening with Brian Roman in support of Julia Morreale.”

The event is being held on Thursday, October 20 starting at 7:30pm at the Markham Theatre. Ticket prices are $50 and $75 each and are available to purchase at the Box Office online at www.markhamtheatre.ca or by calling 905-305-7469. Well known entertainer Brian Roman has donated his time to assist with organizing the event as well as his extraordinary musical talent as the headline entertainment for the evening.

“Our ultimate goal is to raise enough funds to cover all costs for the procedures which will provide Julia with the T-cell infusion treatment her Doctors at Sick Kids have recommended is her best chance for remission. This is only available at the Sloane Kettering Cancer Centre in New York or in Europe. The treatment is not covered by OHIP,” says event sponsor Kylemore Communities President Patrick O’Hanlon. “We hope to raise community awareness as well as kick-start assistance for the family by raising $25,000 from this fabulous event. Every penny from ticket sales will go towards Julia’s treatment,” he adds.

Event sponsors include Kylemore Communities, The Village Grocer Hockey with Heart, and Markham Economist & Sun. “Community is all about making a difference when and where we can. The Village Grocer and Hockey with Heart, my colleagues and partners, want everyone to be involved in giving Julia her chance and making a difference for her,” says Evan MacDonald of The Village Grocer and spokesperson for Hockey with Heart. “Join us on October 20 or participate in any way you can, for Julia’s sake,” he adds.
